Position Summary
The Sheldon Location Manager leads daily operations at River Country Coop’s Sheldon facility, which includes the grain elevator, agronomy plant, and feed mill. This role calls for hands-on leadership, strong business sense, and a commitment to safety, service, and efficiency. The manager will guide teams, support customers, and work with senior leadership to keep the location running smoothly and profitably.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Oversee daily activity across grain, agronomy, and feed operations.
- Monitor grain quality, storage, blending, and shrink while keeping safety top of mind.
- Direct agronomy services including fertilizer, seed, crop protection, and custom application.
- Keep facilities and equipment in excellent working order and ensure the site is clean and professional.
- Maintain records for DATCP, EPA, and ensure licenses are current.
Financial & Strategic Oversight
- Manage budgets, inventory, and accounting systems in partnership with senior leadership.
- Help shape pricing, marketing, and product strategies to maximize long-term success.
- Look for opportunities to improve efficiency and share resources across River Country Coop locations.
Customer & Community Relations
- Deliver outstanding customer service and build lasting relationships with local patrons.
- Spot opportunities for new sales and connect customers with the right staff.
- Represent River Country Coop as a trusted and professional partner in the community.
Safety & Compliance
- Champion a strong safety culture by enforcing OSHA and company policies.
- Stay alert for hazards, address them quickly, and keep employees trained and compliant.
Leadership & Team Development
- Hire, train, and lead employees across grain, agronomy, and retail functions.
- Set clear expectations, provide coaching, and hold staff accountable.
- Promote teamwork, open communication, and a positive work environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Ag Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Background in agronomy, grain, or feed operations.
- Supervisory or leadership experience.
- Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable with technology and business systems.
